Welcome
Hereford Junior Farm Fair
August 13th and 14th
The fair is open to those 21 and younger and gives participants a chance to show cattle, goats, swine, sheep and small animals. Indoor exhibits include flowers, food, vegetables, clothing, photography, hobbies and crafts.
Agricultural fairs and shows are traditions that run deep in Maryland. The events
themselves make for fun family outings with something for everyone. There are livestock competitions, amusement games and rides, information
about food and farming today, the largest and finest fruits
and vegetables, handicrafts and more at many of the fairs.
For those participating in the competitions, these
events are often the highlights of the year. Youth and their
families raise the finest products and livestock they can
with hopes of winning the blue ribbon.
We join fair and show organizers and competitors in
inviting all Marylanders to take some time out with friends
and family to visit a local county fair this summer. There
are few places today where the connection between the
rural agricultural way of life and the lives of urban/suburban
residents are made in such a fun way. At the fair, we learn
to appreciate the value of agriculture to all of our lives, we
celebrate the accomplishments of our youth, and simply
enjoy a fun day out.
